RAPS systems - energy savings

A critical component of the RAPS project is the promotion of energy savings targeted for community members. Lessons learned from other electrification projects will be taken into account so IRP will train and disseminate information on energy savings issues to minimize waste. The RAPS project will work together with the Energy Savings Program (PAE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Perú to replicate succesful approaches from similar rural settings. The project will promote innovative commercial and financial mechanisms to promote the use of electric components like fuses, controllers, and other tools for their domestic use.

To date, IRP has conducted household surveys in Padre Cocha and Indiana to estimate energy consumption. Based on these results, IRP and PAE will jointly design training programs to minimize waste of energy.

Recently, IRP has started an agressive information and education campaign on energy savings. IRP has designed and distributed educational pamphlets targeted to end users so they can maximize energy savings at the household level. The following pamphlets are currently being used by consumers:
Pamphlet 1a
Pamphlet 1b
Pamphlet 2
